David S This album is truly sublime. It sounds amazing, with various electronic sounds and subtle quiet spaces to create room in your mind for the heartfelt and hypnotic singing, and strong song structures that sometimes take unexpected turns. This album weaves a spell, one that rewards repeated listens with more detail and emotion. Favorite track: Wound.
Chris Bevins

Chris Bevins Some of the most talented and dedicated musicians in the El Paso/Las Cruces/Cd. Juarez region created this album. As important as their musical ability is their collective humanity and integrity. Their work, both inside and outside the studio, is deeply moving. Favorite track: Leave Me Alone.

Louise 04:36
You made me do it Yeah you made me do it You made me do it You looked right through it But you made me do it Louise It wasn’t enough To fall in love To love me You thought you had to kill your dreams A martyr is tough It’s never enough To give your life to a man Who doesn’t know its worth The girl I knew Who caught the moon Had to give it back Far too soon You made me do it Yeah you made me do it You made me do it You looked right through it Yeah, you made me do it Louise One day I knew Your dreams had to come true Had to give you up Far too soon You made me do it Yeah you made me do it You made me do it You looked right through it Yeah you made me do it You looked right through it Yeah you made me do it You looked right through it

Wound 05:46
Can we go back Back to the days When we all knew Our right from wrong Our right from wrong Held hostage by the fear Held hostage by the hate Held hostage by the times Held hostage by our fate The wound is open now The wound is open now The wound is open now The wound is open now Please someone Turn this ship around Please someone Turn this ship around I’m going down I can see the ocean floor I’m going down I can see the ocean floor The wound is open now The wound is open now The wound is open now The wound is open now It’s open now It’s open now Yeah Now give me your hand I think I can pull you out again Give me your hand I think I can pull you out again

In your gaze I’m more myself than any other place Light embrace The night sky over your unburdened face Modern daze/days The world careening in and out of phase Your love saves And brings me back into my light and self And I In your gaze I’m more at one than any other place Light and grace You lie above around In every space Field days We’re one and we are in the Milky Way Your love saves Reminds me of my light That I’m alive And I Room to move and room to grow (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to move bloom and room to glow (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to move and room to grow (Stars die) (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to bloom and room to glow (Stars die) (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to move and room to grow (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to move bloom and room to glow (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to move and room to grow (Stars die) (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to bloom and room to glow (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to move and room to grow (Stars die) (And I am all And I am all alone) Room to bloom and room to glow (And I am all And I am all alone)

What Remains 05:31
A cold wind Surrounds the girl The veil’s dropped Around her world The winds leave her empty and bare What remains What remains When you’re born a girl You’re told to always fake a smile You’re told to just be quiet Let the men talk Let the men talk The road is dark For the little girls Who have to grow up way before their time Not a child not a woman Not anything to cling to What remains What remains The first time they grab you unaware The first time they warn you not to tell The first time they grab you unaware Your scream becomes a lock in your throat The veils drop on that little girl The world hears this song Over and over again We have to have each other‘s backs For what remains For what remains Oh, oh, oh oh Oh, oh, oh oh That’s what remains That’s what remains Oh, oh, oh oh Oh, oh, oh oh That’s what remains That’s what remains Oh, oh, oh oh Oh, oh, oh oh That’s what remains That’s what remains Oh, oh, oh oh Oh, oh, oh oh That’s what That’s what That’s what remains Oh, oh, oh oh Oh, oh, oh oh That’s what That’s what That’s what remains

If you don’t want my love Then Leave me alone If you don’t want my love then Leave me alone Don’t make me doubt myself with your doubt Leave me alone Don’t make me doubt myself with your doubt Leave me alone ‘Cause I got no time for Little boys I got no time for Little boys If you don’t know what you want then Leave me alone If you don’t know what you want then Leave me alone Don’t make me swallow up my pride Leave me alone Don’t make me swallow up my pride Leave me alone ‘Cause I got no time for Little boys I got no time for Little boys If you don’t want happiness then Leave me alone If you don’t want happiness then Leave me alone Don’t make me wrestle With your demons Leave me alone Don’t make me wrestle With your demons Leave me alone ‘Cause I got no time for Little boys I got no time for Little boys I’m sorry baby I don’t have the time To fix your life I’m sorry sugar I don’t have the time To fix your mind I’m sorry baby I don’t have the time To fix your heart I’m sorry baby I don’t have the time To fix your soul To fix your soul Do do do do do do do do

He’s a fault line He only wants to shake you up He’s a fault line You never know where it’s safe to walk Hold steady He’ll make the ground beneath you shake Be ready To hold on tight And don’t you break Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on He’s a fault line It isn’t safe to be too near He’s a fault line You know there’s something to fear So hold your breath Hold your breath Hold your breath Hold your breath And let him pass by Let him pass by Let him pass by Let him pass by Let him pass Let him pass by Let him pass by Let him pass by Let him pass by Let him pass by Let him pass by He’s a fault line (Let him pass by) He’s a fault line (Let him pass by) He’ll swallow you up if he gets the chance

You don’t really love me anymore No you don’t really love me anymore ‘Cause my sunshine is such a bore That you don’t really love me anymore You hoped I was needing to be saved Yeah you hoped I was needing to be saved Found out I’d carved out my own road Now you don’t really want me anymore I don’t mind the rain ‘Cause it brings me Back home again No I don’t mind the rain ‘Cause it brings me Back home again I don’t mind the rain ‘Cause it brings me Back home again No I don’t mind the rain ‘Cause it brings me Back home again My love is pure My love is pure My heart is open And my heart is open Like rain in the dawn Like rain in the dawn I’ll follow the lone wind I’ll follow the lone wind My light must grow My light must grow And I won’t be holding And I won’t be holding Your rope anymore Your rope anymore Your road will be cold and Your road will be cold and Your road will be dark Your road will be dark Your road will be broken Your road will be long And then you’ll be home
8.
He came to me Beaten and bruised and lonely but I couldn’t see I couldn’t see He came to me A wolf in wolf’s clothing But I couldn’t see I was naive And love makes you do Foolish things And love makes you do Foolish things I tended his wounds And hoped he’d feel He opened me up Like he had a key He opened me up Like he had the key And love makes you do Foolish things And love makes you do Foolish things And then one day he was healed And I was the wounded one I was the wounded one And love makes you do Foolish things Yes love makes you do Foolish things And love makes you do Foolish things And love

Surrender 04:29
See the unseen Feel the unfelt Drink from the silence Feel the freedom Birth what hasn’t been born Surrender to your love Surrender to your love Surrender to the grace Of what lies ahead Take what’s only meant for you Feel the ground beneath Dance your eternal dance Surrender to your love Surrender to your soul Surrender to the grace Of what lies ahead

Rosie Varela is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist for acclaimed shoegaze band EEP (eepshoegaze.bandcamp.com), whose albums have been praised by tastemaking outlets such as KEXP and The Big Takeover. Rosie created The Rosie Varela Project, an Avant-Pop/Indie Rock band for songs that bend genre and may not always fit into EEP's shoegaze style.

The solo project’s debut album What Remains is a collection of songs that explores many moments and moods throughout a woman’s life through the lens of the experiences that Rosie Varela has lived. It touches upon the sounds and musical influences - from avant-pop to dream pop to psychedelic folk - that have inspired her throughout her life. The album is an invitation to connect and to feel.
